Designing Standards-Based Projects

Last class, Thursday February 18, 2010, we overviewed how to begin the standard-based projects. We were to come up with a subject, grade, topic, and guiding question for our project by the next class.

My subject: Biology

My grade: 10th
My topic: DNA: Why do people look the way they appear?

Learning Outcomes:

  • investigate the chemistry of cellular processes and biological molecules and relate structure to function in various cells and organisms
  • analyze the flow of energy in cells and organisms
  • determine the effectiveness and consequences of asexual or sexual reproduction within a species
  • research various biomes, analyze the interrelationships of organisms and explain factors the affect coevolution

Visual Ranking Project

Using Intel, I created a Visual Ranking Project that compared the stages of Mitosis and Meiosis in an animal cell. I created two student teams.

NETS T standards

Today we set up an Animoto account that can be used to create videos.

We worked with the Intel Teach Thinking with Technology Course. We got into groups and did a couple activities such as;
ISTE NETS T Visual Ranking Project and ICT Self Efficacy Seeing Reason Project.
