What is a Webquest?

A webquest is a website where an assignment or lessson is given by a teacher which asks students to use the internet to learn about and use their knowledge for a given topic. The website with the lesson contains an introduction, what the task is, the process it is to be done in, an evaluation, and the conclusion.

Today's inclass activity included individual work, group work, and a larger class group. Each student had a hard copy of the webquest about webquests worksheet. We were broke into groups of four. Within the group, each student was given a specific role to research about each of the projects listed. Then each group member came together and decided on the best project and the worst project based on the roles researched. Then each group presented their findings to the teacher for the whole class to anaylze.

Continuing Designing My Project

Today in class we discussed the differences between essential questions and non-essential questions. We reviewed the classroom observation tool, and we discussed good powerpoint presentations that have lots of pictures and less words. We are to begin our first lesson using PowerPoint.

Essential Questions

The last couple of classes we have begun creating a website for our designing projects. We added a page for standards and a page for the essential questions.

My subject and topic are Biology/DNA

Essential Question
  • Why do people not look alike?

Unit Questions

  • What are the general features of a cell and what are their functions?
  • What is DNA and how is it coded in the body?

Content Questions

  • Where is DNA stored in the cell and why?
  • What is the name of the characteristic shape of DNA?
  • What makes up a DNA strand and how is it bonded?
  • How is DNA involved in protein synthesis?
